Two Day Course!

Course Dates:

April 8-9, 2010 - 8 AM to 5 PM

Location :

McLoughlin Auditorium

Clackamas Community College

Oregon City, Oregon

CEUs applied for:  15

Course Description:

Appraisal is a highly developed discipline that is applied to real estate, fine art and antiques, gems and jewelry, machinery and equipment, livestock, crops and virtually all types of property. There are a number of highly consistent, generally accepted standards of professional appraisal practice around the world. They are as applicable to amenity, landscape, shade and ornamental (ALSO) trees and other plants as to any other property type.

This seminar starts with a discussion of basic concepts including the definitions of appraisal and value, approaches to value and defining appraisal problems, all as set forth in generally accepted, professional appraisal standards. Various plant appraisal methods are placed in a logical and comprehensive framework. Building on this foundation, the methods set forth in the Guide for Plant Appraisal, 9th Edition are logically explained and related to generally accepted appraisal standards and practice. Particular attention is paid to appraisal depreciation, i.e. the Species, Condition and Location factors.

Additional seminar topics include:

  • Cost of Cure
  • Dimensions
  • Reasonableness
  • Regional Guidance

The material and practical exercises have been updated since the 2005 PNW seminar in Seattle to prepare attendees for significant - but as yet unidentified - changes in the upcoming 10th edition. Q & A and active discussion are encouraged throughout.
